TrustInEd Presents Flex Your Future
Course Alignment
National course-classification alignment and district implementation guidance for Grades 6–12.
Designed for District Adoption & Secondary Elective Credit
Nationally Aligned. District Ready.
Flex Your Future® is a comprehensive Grades 6–12 College & Career Readiness pathway designed to grow with students from early career awareness through postsecondary transition. The curriculum is structured for district adoption and secondary elective credit and aligns with nationally recognized School Courses for the Exchange of Data (SCED) classifications.
Recommended National Course Classification
Flex Your Future is broader than one topic. SCED 22151 serves as the primary national course-classification anchor, with supporting classifications used when they accurately reflect a district’s adopted course design.
SCED 22151 — Career Exploration
Primary national alignment for self-discovery, interests and aptitudes, career options, training pathways, career decision-making, and preparation for future education and work.
SCED 22152 — Employability Skills
Supports workplace readiness, communication, job-seeking preparation, transferable skills, professional behaviors, and career preparation.
SCED 22210 — Consumer Economics / Personal Finance
Relevant to the curriculum’s financial-literacy strand, including budgeting, income, cost of living, financial aid, borrowing, and financial decision-making.
Middle School Option
SCED 22250 — Exploratory may be considered where a state or district uses an exploratory classification for Grades 6–8. Final classification should reflect local implementation and state reporting rules.
Work-Based Conditional Option
SCED 22153 — Diversified Occupations should only be considered when a district’s implementation includes the qualifying employment/work-based components required by its state or local framework.
Local Course Title
Districts may retain a local title such as Flex Your Future: College & Career Readiness while mapping the course to the appropriate state/local classification for reporting.
The Flex Your Future® College & Career Readiness Framework
Integrated across the seven-grade pathway, with social-emotional learning woven throughout.
Additional National Framework Alignment
Course classification is only one part of the alignment story. Flex Your Future also integrates competencies represented in major national readiness frameworks.
Social-Emotional Learning
Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making align with the CASEL 5 framework.
Financial Literacy
Personal finance instruction supports budgeting, income, saving, credit/debt awareness, financial aid, and informed financial decision-making.
Career Ready Practices
Career exploration, communication, professionalism, collaboration, planning, and transition readiness support modern career-ready competencies.
State-Specific Course & Credit Mapping
Course codes, elective-credit rules, educator qualifications, graduation requirements, and reporting practices vary by state. TrustInEd provides state-specific mapping support so district leaders can connect the national Flex Your Future framework to applicable state and local requirements.
State Mapping May Include
